How to Beat Your Winter Blues

How to Beat Your Winter Blues

Do you feel down and lethargic this time of year? Moody and depressed? You’re not alone…

This time of year can be testing. All the festivities are over, and there’s a long time before summer.

Don’t let this dreary time of year beat you. Fight back and take action. You CAN help yourself beat your winter blues.

Here’s my top 10 tips to help you feel happy, bright and energetic in the winter months.

Learn how to beat your winter blues…

Get outdoors

Even The Winter Sun Can Pick You Up!

Exposure to sunlight boosts your serotonin levels. This chemical helps you feel wonderful and happy.

In winter there’s not much sun, so you must grab it when you can. Make a special effort to escape outdoors when the sun is shining. Even when cloudy, the sun’s rays still penetrate the clouds. So leave your house even when it’s overcast, as you still benefit.

If it’s cold, wear plenty of layers. Even wrapped up, you benefit from the winter sun. The sun’s light enters your eyes and creates positive physiological changes. It triggers your happy spring and summer mood. It doesn’t have to hit bare skin to lift you.

Make your house brighter

Paint your rooms lighter colours. Add more mirrors to bounce light around, and buy some lamps for extra lighting. This helps you feel brighter and happier.

Buy a lightbox

Lightboxes are relatively cheap, and can provide you with blue light that helps reduce symptoms of SAD.

Meditation/hypnotherapy

Visualising being in a sunny climate can give you a positive boost. If you visualise something clear enough, your subconscious mind believes it has really happened. Through visualisation, you can receive enormous benefits – just like you’ve really been in the sun.

Check your ion levels

Research has indicated that negative ions in the air significantly lifts our mood in the winter. You can buy an ionizer to help raise ion levels in the air.

Better still visit the beach, as there are high levels of naturally occurring negative ions. A salt lamp is great for replicating the effects of being at the beach.

Keep warm

Being cold increases depression. Wrap up well. Wear a hat indoors if you have to. Heat your home well. I know it can be expensive, but your mental and physical health is on the line – you’re worth it.

Vitamin D

Our body naturally produces vitamin D when exposed to sun. In the winter it’s a great idea to eat more foods that contain vitamin D. This includes eggs and oily fish.

Book a winter holiday

Consider booking a holiday in the winter to a warmer climate – even if you must sacrifice a summer holiday to pay for it. You benefit psychologically as you have something to look forward to, plus you benefit physically being in the sun. During the summer you could organise local trips out instead of going away.

Embrace the winter

Learn To Embrace Winter!

Learn to love what’s different about the winter. Appreciate how nature changes. The falling leaves and the frosty landscape has it’s own unique beauty.

If you’re motivated, take up a winter hobby like skiing or snowboarding.

Enjoy getting comfy at home. Put the fire on, wear a dressing gown, and cuddle up to a nice hot chocolate.

If you think positively, you will find many benefits to this time of year. Can you think of any?

Final thoughts

Try to follow as many of these tips as you can to help you beat your winter blues. Stay positive and be determined not to let it beat you.

Remember, as each day passes, you’re moving closer to summer. Hang on in there sunshine – you’ll get there!

Here’s a run down of how subliminals work…

How subliminals work

Subliminals work in a similar way to hypnotherapy. Both bypass the conscious mind to pass suggestions to the subconscious mind. Subliminals have a different way of doing this…

Instead of using trance, subliminals use hidden messages within music. Your conscious mind cannot hear these suggestions, but your subconscious mind can.

It’s like when you’re in a room with several conversations going on at once. In one of the conversations, someone mentions your name. This causes you to consciously focus on their conversation to see what they are saying about you.

Your powerful subconscious was listening to ALL the conversations at the same time. Your conscious mind is not capable of this. Your subconscious mind can pick out sounds within sounds that your conscious mind can’t.

With my subliminal sessions, only your subconscious mind can hear my suggestions. This allows them to go deep into your subconscious mind without conscious interference.

How To Resolve A Bad Memory From Your Past

How To Resolve A Bad Memory From Your Past…

If you want help coming to terms with a bad memory from your past, this video is for you.  (Please scroll down for my free NLP video)

When something bad happens to you, that’s bad enough. But what often happens is you relive the event over again. You repeatedly feel those same gut wrenching feelings as if it’s happening again. Sound familiar?

It’s time to say enough of those bad feelings…

In the following video I use a simple but powerful NLP anchoring technique that neutralises bad memories. You still remember the event just as accurately as before, but your feelings towards it are different. You just feel indifferent about it. Once you’ve experienced it, you’ll know what I mean.

Check out the video, I would love to hear in the comments what it does for you…

Please share this if you think there is someone you know who would benefit from this simple but powerful NLP therapy.

How To Meditate

How To Meditate

How To MeditateHere I will show you how to meditate…

What is meditation?

Meditation is similar to hypnotherapy, but it does have one major difference. The difference is that meditation aims to clear your mind of all thoughts, whereas hypnotherapy aims to add suggestions for therapeutic benefit. Meditation can be beneficial to everyone, from those who just want to add a little peace to their lives, to those with more serious problems like borderline personality disorder or recovering from an abusive relationship.

Benefits of meditation

The simple clearing of your mind has many fantastic benefits. Here’s a few of them…

Relieves stressHow To Meditate

Most people have experienced excessive “mind chatter” where your mind can’t seem to relax and shut up. This can be very stressful. In part this is caused by the modern lifestyle. We constantly have stimulating things around us just as TV’s, phones, traffic, people etc. Every now and then we need some time out from this bombardment, and meditation is perfect for this.

Improve memory and concentration

Our memory and concentration improves with a calm mind. Imagine if a drill sergeant was screaming orders at you whilst you were trying to add up a shopping bill. It would be very difficult right? In a similar way a chattering mind makes it difficult to think properly.

Improve creativity

Your creativity is greatly enhanced with a calm still mind. That’s why Archimedes made his discovery about displacement whilst in the bath. He was relaxed, which allowed his creative mind to flow.

Improved physical health

It is well known that stress can hamper out immune system. Regular meditation can significantly reduce the amount of illnesses we contract.

How to meditate

There are many different ways to meditate. I’m going to show you a very simple breathing meditation…

  1. Get yourself comfortable, either seated or led down – it’s up to you.
  2. Close your eyes.
  3. Place your hands gently on your stomach.
  4. Breath in slowly, deeply and evenly. In through your nose, and out through your mouth.
  5. Feel your stomach rise and fall with each breathe.
  6. Keep breathing slowly, deeply, and evenly. Notice the difference in the temperature of the air as you breathe in, and as you breathe out.
  7. Keep up this slow, deep, even breathing. Focus on the rise and fall of your stomach, and the different temperatures of your breathe. Do this for as long as you wish.

I promise you that even 5 minutes of this per day will make a dramatic difference to your health and happiness. Now you know how to meditate, why not give this a 7 day trial where you do this every day for a week. I would love to hear how this went for you.

If you want some more help meditating, I have created a good collection of different audio’s which guide you through learning new meditations…
